"I'm 42. Is it too late to start?" We get some version of this question every single day. And the answer is always the same: no. Not even close.
Our student base ranges from 18-year-olds straight out of high school to 60+ year-olds looking for a career change or retirement income. Some of our most successful graduates started in their 40s and 50s. Here's why age doesn't matter — and why it might actually help.
Age Is Not the Barrier You Think It Is
Window tinting is a skill-based trade. It requires steady hands, patience, attention to detail, and the ability to follow a process. None of these things decline with age — most of them actually improve. A 45-year-old with 20 years of work ethic will often outperform a 22-year-old who's still figuring things out. Just look at how quickly people pick up this skill regardless of background.
Physically, tinting is moderate work. You're standing, bending, and using your hands — but you're not lifting heavy objects or doing anything extremely strenuous. If you can wash a car, you can tint a car.
Your Life Experience Is an Advantage
Older students consistently outperform younger ones in one critical area: business. Running a successful tinting operation requires customer service, professionalism, financial management, and marketing savvy. People who've been in the workforce for 15-20+ years already have these skills.
- You know how to show up consistently and do the work
- You understand customer service and professional communication
- You have a larger personal network for initial referrals
- You're more likely to handle money responsibly and invest in growth
- You bring credibility and trust that younger competitors may lack
Over 35% of our student base is aged 35+. The average age of students who hit $10K/month within their first year is 37.
It's About When You Start, Not How Old You Are
The only bad time to start is never. Whether you're 25 or 55, the clock is ticking either way. A year from now, you could be running a profitable tinting business — or you could still be at the same desk wondering "what if."
The best time to start was 5 years ago. The second best time is today.
